Do this when holiday stress threatens to overwhelm....

Hey Reader,

The ho-ho-holidays aren't always so so happy and easy breezy are they?

There's so much going on, it can make us feel like overstimulated children! (And let's be real--I'm basically a 2 year old in a middle age body anyway. I need plenty of sleep & I never leave home without snacks!!)

One of the quickest, easiest, cheapest, and yet most effective strategies to put in your holiday emergency tool kit is: taking a break.

It doesn't have to be long--3 breaths, 3 minutes, half an hour. Do what you can as soon as you can.

Arrive late to an event & feel stressed? Stay in the car, close your eyes, and take 3 deep breaths. This small reset will completely change your energy and approach to the event.

Things getting tense over carving the holiday ham? Step outside for a literal breath of fresh air. Take some deep breaths again. Pay attention to the cool air on your face and the sounds around you. What really matters in the face of the timeless winds and endless sky of our beautiful planet?

Conversation getting heated or divisive? Take a walk or play with your kids, nieces, or nephews outside. Get away from the trigger and reset. Let the simple joy of childhood give you hope for the future.

Above all, allow yourself to recognize when you're maxed out, then give yourself permission to take time for you. Recharge your batteries so you can continue fueling the family and friends around you that are the real reason for the season.

Breathe deep. Drink plenty of water. You got this!
