Monday Motivation - Dedicating time to pursue my joy and curiosity is a good business decision.

Happy Monday Reader!

Today is Memorial Day here in the U.S., which is the official unofficial start to summer! Technically, the summer solstice on June 20 is the first day of summer (and also my birthday!), but pools open by Memorial day, kids are out of school, and camping season is in full swing.

Have you made a plan for how having the kids home for the summer will affect your business?

Whether you'll have more distractions around, take more time off, or just want to enjoy the upcoming weeks, the Super Successful Summer workshop can help!

(Now back to our regularly scheduled programming!)

Innovation is a huge buzzword. You hear it alllllllllllllll the time. Companies always brag about how they prioritize & seek out innovation.

It's how the biggest, most popular products become phenomenal successes--they do something entirely differently from their competition.

But these zeitgeist-shifting companies don't come about because the business owner hates her work & is bored of her products.

They come about because she went against the grain, looked at possibilities in a new way, and let creativity lead.

We're allowing ourselves to let creativity lead with this week's affirmation:

"Dedicating time to pursue my joy and curiosity is a good business decision."

I've been feeling the opposite of this lately. I'm feeling listless & tired of hearing myself promote the same things over and over and over again.

Now, to be fair, I am 99% sure that I'm paying way more attention than anyone else. I spend 40+ hours a week on this after all!

But feeling uninspired to work in my business is not a good sign. Dreading going into work is a major red flag. It means something needs to change, stat.

After all, I didn't start my own business to be the worst boss I ever had.

I didn't start my business to only do tedious work with my nose to another grindstone.

I started my business because I'm extremely passionate about helping people spend their time how they want to. About helping people work fewer hours without losing income because there's more to life than just our jobs.

And when I feel like week old stale bread about my business, I have to find a way to bring back the joy, the fun, the excitement I had in the beginning.

If you're also struggling to get legitimately excited to talk about or work on your business, join me in repeating 21x every day this week:

"Dedicating time to pursue my joy and curiosity is a good business decision."

❤️

P.S. Rolling your eyes about finding time for "joy" and "curiosity" when you're drowning in work? Schedule a call to learn how 1 hour a week is enough to completely overhaul your work/life.

As always, affirmations work best when you truly believe them. They need to resonate with you and feel achievable. So feel free to modify any I suggest, or develop entirely new ones!

Say them as long as you want. I'm sharing a new affirmation each week, but that doesn't mean you have to switch it up each week unless it feels right. You can add new ones as often as you want and have as many as you want. You can say a different affirmation every day, or at different times of the day. You choose!

I'd love to hear the impact it has! (But if you decide affirmations are not for you, click here to be removed from this weekly email.)

I hope this affirmation sets you up for a kick ass week and I'll see you next Monday for a new one to try!

Happy Labor Day Reader! Last week we looked at the water we're swimming in here in the U.S.--the water that makes constant productivity feel normal or even virtuous. Although I've been aware of this cultural pressure for many years, I still succumb to it regularly! As a business owner it's easy to put pressure on myself to work more, work harder, work longer to get my business to succeed. It's hard for me to slow down and rest when there is still so much to do! A webinar I could be watching....

Happy Monday Reader! How familiar are you with the "Protestant work ethic"? Here's a refresher that AI provided during my Google search: The Protestant work ethic is a sociological, economic, and historical concept that emphasizes the importance of hard work, frugality, and productivity in one's job. It's also known as the Calvinist or Puritan work ethic. The term refers to the religious significance that some Protestant groups believe is attached to working hard and trying to succeed. I...

Happy Monday Reader! How are things going for you? For me? I was on the struggle bus last week! Most of my client contracts are ending this month, and my pipeline for possible new clients is pretty empty. That's a terrifying place for a business owner to be! This really got into my head, and kicked up a lot of doubt and limiting beliefs. Ah, those old familiar frenemies! Due to my empty pipeline, I felt like no one was interested in my business or my coaching services. Which made it seem like...
