Monday Motivation - I give myself permission to do what is right for me.

Happy Monday Reader!

We're back for a new affirmation to power us through the week.

Do we have any people-pleasers in the house? I say I'm a "recovering" people pleaser. It's something I've been working on for a few years now. Coaching & therapy have made the biggest difference, but affirmations are a good way to exercise those self confidence muscles too.

This week we're reminding ourselves it's not selfish to take care of us by saying:

"I give myself permission to do what is right for me."

Permission is a funny thing isn't it? How often do you even think about what you give or deny yourself permission for?

One of the reasons working with my coach last year was so valuable was that she gave me permission and encouragement to pursue what I really wanted. Not just what was safe, or reasonable, but what actually made me excited.

I'd spent so many years being a "good girl." Following the rules, both spoken & unspoken. Living up to others' expectations. I spent so much time denying myself in order to pursue the "right" path.

My coach gave me permission, but she also helped me develop my self-permission muscles. And being able to give myself permission to do what I wanted, what I thought was right for myself, was revolutionary.

Maybe it is for you, too.

Maybe it's right to do less work this week.

Maybe it's right to stand up for yourself this week.

Maybe it's right for you to drop a ball or two.

Maybe it's right for you to pick the more expensive option just because you want it.

This week, don't let people tell you what is right for you. Don't let them tell you how to live your life, to tell you how much rest, or money, or love, or shoes you need or don't need.

You get to decide what is right for yourself.

And the only permission you need is your own.

Let's take back our agency to care for ourselves without guilt this week by repeating 21x every day "I give myself permission to do what is right for me."

As always, affirmations work best when you truly believe them. They need to resonate with you and feel achievable. So feel free to modify any I suggest, or develop entirely new ones!

Say them as long as you want. I'm sharing a new affirmation each week, but that doesn't mean you have to switch it up each week unless it feels right. You can add new ones as often as you want and have as many as you want. You can say a different affirmation every day, or at different times of the day. You choose!

I'd love to hear the impact it has! (But if you decide affirmations are not for you, click here to be removed from this weekly email.)

I hope this affirmation sets you up for a kick ass week and I'll see you next Monday for a new one to try!

Breathe deep. Drink plenty of water. You got this!

Hello Reader, Our affirmation stays the same this week: I have all the time I need. Remember: If you don't have all the time you need, there are only 2 ways to create it: Delete items from your to-do list or Delegate items from your to-do list I've been thinking a lot over the past week about having all the time I need for my hobbies. As a working adult, I don't always have time for my hobbies! And my hobbies are seasonal to an extent too. I don't need nearly as much time for gardening in the...
