Monday Motivation - I release busy-ness so I can focus on what truly matters in my business and my life.

Published 14 days ago • 2 min read

Happy Monday Reader!

The Pareto Principal.

The 80/20 rule.

These are both ways of saying that the bulk of our success comes from a small amount of our actions.

That 80% of our results come from 20% of our work.

And in other words...80% of our work is not productive!

That can be a hard pill to swallow. But let's flip the script on that (as I do with all my clients)--If we can discover what those few vital actions are that drive the majority of our success, we can spend more of our time on those.

And that's the definition of working smarter instead of harder!

Today's affirmation will help us do just that:

"I release busy-ness so I can focus on what truly matters in my business and my life."

We're constantly swimming in an ocean of productivity pressure. In capitalism, if we're not being productive, we're not successful.

Even when we know that's not true, it can still be hard to turn it off or tune it out.

I still have a little voice inside me that says resting is a waste of time, that I'm lazy, and I'll never achieve my goals if I sit and daydream for even 30 minutes.

That voice encourages me to stay busy, on anything and everything.

But that's not actually helpful or productive if I'm staying busy with tasks that aren't really contributing to my business's bottom line (or my happiness).

I have to be able to pause and take time to think about what's actually working, instead of running full speed ahead on that hamster wheel.

So help yourself pause to find the vital few actions that really make a difference this week by repeating 21x every day:

"I release busy-ness so I can focus on what truly matters in my business and my life."

Because rest is necessary, not just a reward. ❤️

Upcoming Event Alert!

One of the top issues I hear about in my free consults is not having enough friends. If you are lonely & find it hard to meet new people these days, come to the Thursday Social Snack event I organized!

This is a free event focused on doing something fun with other bad ass locals. Bring your kids, bring your partner, bring random strangers you meet on the street!

Sherrie Ortiz with Just One Day Travel Tours will be guiding us and teaching us Plaza & Nelson sculpture history.

Details on the Facebook event page here.

As always, affirmations work best when you truly believe them. They need to resonate with you and feel achievable. So feel free to modify any I suggest, or develop entirely new ones!

Say them as long as you want. I'm sharing a new affirmation each week, but that doesn't mean you have to switch it up each week unless it feels right. You can add new ones as often as you want and have as many as you want. You can say a different affirmation every day, or at different times of the day. You choose!

I'd love to hear the impact it has! (But if you decide affirmations are not for you, click here to be removed from this weekly email.)

I hope this affirmation sets you up for a kick ass week and I'll see you next Monday for a new one to try!

Happy Monday Reader! Do you have a scarcity or an abundance mindset? If you're like me, the answer may change depending on the week! (Or even the hour some days.) When we have a scarcity mindset we operate our business from fear. We worry new clients or opportunities won't show up. That our past or current success was a fluke. That it can all disappear without notice. TBH, being in scarcity mindset sucks. And we might not feel like we can change it. We might believe living with scarcity is...

Happy Monday Reader! When I was a kid, we only listened to country music on the radio. I have extensive knowledge of 90s country--Garth Brooks, Shania Twain, Reba McEntire, you name it! There are so many songs I don't even remember I know all the words to...until they're coming out of my mouth as I sing along! But there's one song that is practically an anthem for my life. And not necessarily in a good way! 😅 Alabama's song "I'm in a Hurry" is referenced weekly in my house! Because I "rush &...
