Hello Reader, Do you remember learning about "opportunity cost" in school? Opportunity cost is the potential forgone profit from a missed opportunity. In simpler terms, the result of choosing one thing over another. Literally every decision we make comes with opportunity cost, including how we spend our time. I release guilt and negative thoughts around how I spend my time. Instead of feeling guilty or beating yourself up for making a certain choice about how you spent your time yesterday or last week, try viewing it as neutral--just information. For example, if you spent more time browsing social media than you meant to, instead of berating yourself for wasting time, get curious about why you did it. Were you avoiding other tasks? Were you so exhausted from the prior week that you needed to rest & turn your brain off for a while? Was that the only self-care time you got all day, or even all week? When we understand the root cause of "wasting time"--what primal need we were trying to satisfy--we can use that info to make the changes we want. By taking guilt out of the evaluation, it's easier to discover if spending our time that way actually soothed the underlying need...or if it just masked it. Or even worse--intensified our real underlying desire! And if those extra minutes browsing socials truly made you feel better, then definitely stop feeling guilty! Because your time coach (hi! That's me!) doesn't care what techniques you use, only that you get the results you desire. This week we will get curious instead of judgmental about how we spend our time by reminding ourselves 21x each day: I release guilt and negative thoughts around how I spend my time. ❤️ |
Time is the single most valuable thing we have. I help busy business owners get out of overwhelm to work fewer hours in their business (without sacrificing income!) so they can get back to enjoying their business and their life again.
Hello Reader, Our affirmation stays the same this week: I have all the time I need. Remember: If you don't have all the time you need, there are only 2 ways to create it: Delete items from your to-do list or Delegate items from your to-do list I've been thinking a lot over the past week about having all the time I need for my hobbies. As a working adult, I don't always have time for my hobbies! And my hobbies are seasonal to an extent too. I don't need nearly as much time for gardening in the...
Hey Reader, This affirmation is one I come back to again and again. I have all the time I need. It's an oldie but a goodie. Like a timeless LBD, it never goes out of style or use. When we strip everything else away, we have enough time for what we need. Enough time to sleep, to nourish our bodies/minds/souls, to care for others, to do meaningful work. It's all that other shit that gets in the way! Things like: Calls and texts at all hours.App notifications that pop up on their time line, not...
