Monday Motivation - My face is my fortune.

Happy Monday Reader!

We interrupt this regularly scheduled broadcast to bring you an important request.

I could really use your help to grow my business! You've been here a while, so you know I'm passionate about helping people understand themselves, value themselves & their time, and protect their time.

I'm happy to talk about this stuff all the time, for free.

But unfortunately, we live under capitalism and I have to keep my freeloader cat in treats and kibbles. And that's NOT free!

I'd love to talk to more people who could use my help, and hopefully onboard a couple new clients!

And that's where you come in.

  • If you've been on the fence about coaching, let's talk! I'd love to get a time set up to learn about what's going in your life, and see if I can be of service. (Without any high pressure sales tactics, obvs, cuz that's gross!)
  • If you don't need coaching right now, I bet you know someone else who might! I'd love an email introduction to one person who might benefit from my expertise. Consider connecting me with:
    • family or friends working 50, 60, or more hours a week
    • an entrepreneur with ADD or ADHD
    • a current or former manager who never took vacations
    • a struggling high school or college student
    • a younger coworker who doesn't know what they want to be when they grow up
    • the person at your company responsible for events, speakers, or professional development

Thanks in advance for helping me keep my business afloat! I'm not ready to give up helping people with their limited time, energy, and attention, and nothing beats that moment when their face lights up with a new revelation.

Here's to giving that joy to more lovely people! 🥂

(And now we return to our regularly scheduled programming!)

As a solopreneur, I am everything in my business. Accountant, HR, marketing, sales...literally all of it.

I am also the face of my business. Especially as a coach, my business is built on me being seen as an expert. As reliable & trustworthy.

People do business with people they know, like and trust, after all!

Despite knowing that, I avoid showing my face online. And that's a problem. So this week I'm working on changing that with the affirmation:

"My face is my fortune."

I learned about this affirmation from Denise Duffield-Thomas--I won't take credit and claim I came up with it on my own!

I have so many excuses to not show my face. Like...

I didn't put on makeup.

My hair is too frizzy, and really needs a dye touch up.

My double chin.

I'd need to change clothes because a ratty old t-shirt doesn't look professional.

Any of these sound familiar??

But I'm admitting to you right now, these are all just excuses. I'm putting in the time anyway to create content, just without any pics or videos of me. And the numbers don't lie: that content just doesn't do as well.

Why am I working so hard at the wrong things when the answer is staring me right in the face? (Literally!) Because of doubt, insecurity, fear, laziness.

And this week, I've had enough of my excuses. I'm ready to commit to stepping into the spotlight and showing up for my business.

And I'll help myself feel comfortable doing that by repeating 21x every day:

"My face is my fortune."

❤️

(P.S. This hang up & affirmation relate to my 100 Day Goal too! So it wasn't as far out in left field as it may have appeared at first. 😉)

As always, affirmations work best when you truly believe them. They need to resonate with you and feel achievable. So feel free to modify any I suggest, or develop entirely new ones!

Say them as long as you want. I'm sharing a new affirmation each week, but that doesn't mean you have to switch it up each week unless it feels right. You can add new ones as often as you want and have as many as you want. You can say a different affirmation every day, or at different times of the day. You choose!

I'd love to hear the impact it has! (But if you decide affirmations are not for you, click here to be removed from this weekly email.)

I hope this affirmation sets you up for a kick ass week and I'll see you next Monday for a new one to try!

My husband and I love to travel, and even though our reduced...

I'm thinking a lot lately about capitalism and hustle culture and the uncomfortable space they take up in my brain. Hello Reader, Do you remember learning about "opportunity cost" in school? Opportunity cost is the potential forgone profit from a missed opportunity. In simpler terms, the result of choosing one thing over another. Literally every decision we make comes with opportunity cost, including how we spend our time. I release guilt and negative thoughts around how I spend my time. Instead of feeling guilty or beating yourself up for making a certain choice about how you spent your time yesterday or...
