Happy Monday Reader!
Alright my friend, we're well and truly back into work now, aren't we?
How did you approach the new year? Did you make resolutions? Do you have a process to evaluate last year & plan for this one?
My husband and I went to a new coffee shop on Jan. 2 to think about, envision, and write about our takeaways from 2023 and our goals for 2024. We work through the process solo, and then discuss it afterwards.
Or at least we did this year. It was the first time he's done an activity like this, so results were kind of mixed. But I think it's very important, and always make time to do it!
I firmly believe that the first step to having time for the life we want is to envision that dream life. We might not know how exactly to get there, but we need to know what we're aiming for at least!
So I highly recommend finding or creating a process to systematically review last year & dream about this upcoming year. I don't (yet!) have a custom workbook for this, but I've used the "Design Your 202X" workbook from Get Bullish, if you'd like a cheap & easy rec.
Then once you have a clear picture of how 2023 went, and what your goals are for 2024, it's time to get moving on them! And this week's affirmation will help us do that.
Remind yourself every day this week:
"My goals deserve my time and attention, and I commit to making them a priority."
Only 9-12% of people keep the new year resolutions they make. Those are some terrifyingly low numbers! And I don't want you to be part of that statistic.
The main reasons for failure were:
Your goal setting & planning for 2024 should take these into account, so you can help yourself avoid these pitfalls as well.
Our affirmation will help us remember our goals and keep us motivated to work on them. So let's repeat to ourselves 21x every day this week:
"My goals deserve my time and attention, and I commit to making them a priority."
Did you catch last week's free training on my top tip for dealing with any and every time management issue? If not, here's the replay!
This tip can help you create the time you need to work towards your goals or resolutions every week!
As always, affirmations work best when you truly believe them. They need to resonate with you and feel achievable. So feel free to modify any I suggest, or develop entirely new ones!
Say them as long as you want. I'm sharing a new affirmation each week, but that doesn't mean you have to switch it up each week unless it feels right. You can add new ones as often as you want and have as many as you want. You can say a different affirmation every day, or at different times of the day. You choose!
I'd love to hear the impact it has! (But if you decide affirmations are not for you, click here to be removed from this weekly email.)
I hope this affirmation sets you up for a kick ass week and I'll see you next Monday for a new one to try!

Time is the single most valuable thing we have. I help busy business owners get out of overwhelm to work fewer hours in their business (without sacrificing income!) so they can get back to enjoying their business and their life again.

And I was all coy, not telling you my goal because I thought it might make it easier to not complete it?...
Happy Monday Reader! Last week's affirmation about rest ended up being more applicable than I expected when I developed a sinus infection! There's nothing like illness or an emergency to force us to slow down and prioritize rest. Have you ever noticed that being sick is a socially acceptable reason to cancel plans? That it's a "legitimate" reason? When I have to tell someone no or cancel a plan, I usually feel the need to give a reason. It's something I've been working on as a "recovering...
Happy Labor Day Reader! Last week we looked at the water we're swimming in here in the U.S.--the water that makes constant productivity feel normal or even virtuous. Although I've been aware of this cultural pressure for many years, I still succumb to it regularly! As a business owner it's easy to put pressure on myself to work more, work harder, work longer to get my business to succeed. It's hard for me to slow down and rest when there is still so much to do! A webinar I could be watching....
