Happy Monday Reader! Last week I was reintroduced to the importance of basing everything in our business around our "why." Why did we start this specific business, instead of one of a dozen others we had ideas for? Why do we do things differently & better than the existing alternatives? What's important to us for the world, and in the legacy we will leave behind us when our time is up? With the answers to those types of questions in mind, we realize how true this week's affirmation is: "My message is powerful and the world needs to hear it." When you're your own boss, you have to find meaningful & powerful reasons to go to your desk in the morning. Sleeping in, reading trashy romance novels, and puttering around the garden are otherwise too tempting to resist. (Don't tell me that's just me again?!) Getting back in touch with your "why" keeps you motivated. It provides your unique marketing message and value proposition. It reminds us what our priorities should be, and helps us focus our time and energy on meaningful tasks. It's our guiding light on this hard-to-see, twisty path of entrepreneurship. So take a second right now to remember what your "why" is, then join me in repeating 21x every day: "My message is powerful and the world needs to hear it." ❤️ P.S. Struggling to get back in touch with your "why"? Schedule a free 30 min virtual coffee and I'll help you rediscover yours, so it can guide how you spend your time & make the most impact!
Don't forget Awkward Networking is this week!Join us for a low key, low pressure speed networking event this Thursday! Speed networking removes a lot of the awkwardness of regular networking because: 1. You don’t have to figure out when to move on to meet someone else. (We time it and everyone switches at the same time!) 2. You don’t have to figure out how to join a group that’s already chatting. (Because all interactions are one to one.) 3. You will meet everyone in the room so you don’t worry you missed an important connection. You won’t want to miss this relaxed yet fast-paced opportunity to meet and connect with other Kansas City area entrepreneurs!
As always, affirmations work best when you truly believe them. They need to resonate with you and feel achievable. So feel free to modify any I suggest, or develop entirely new ones! Say them as long as you want. I'm sharing a new affirmation each week, but that doesn't mean you have to switch it up each week unless it feels right. You can add new ones as often as you want and have as many as you want. You can say a different affirmation every day, or at different times of the day. You choose! I'd love to hear the impact it has! (But if you decide affirmations are not for you, click here to be removed from this weekly email.) I hope this affirmation sets you up for a kick ass week and I'll see you next Monday for a new one to try! Ready to make time for great things in 2024? Time is the single most valuable thing we have. I help busy business owners get out of overwhelm to work fewer hours in their business (without sacrificing income!) so they can get back to enjoying their business and their life again.

And I was all coy, not telling you my goal because I thought it might make it easier to not complete it?...
Happy Monday Reader! Last week's affirmation about rest ended up being more applicable than I expected when I developed a sinus infection! There's nothing like illness or an emergency to force us to slow down and prioritize rest. Have you ever noticed that being sick is a socially acceptable reason to cancel plans? That it's a "legitimate" reason? When I have to tell someone no or cancel a plan, I usually feel the need to give a reason. It's something I've been working on as a "recovering...
Happy Labor Day Reader! Last week we looked at the water we're swimming in here in the U.S.--the water that makes constant productivity feel normal or even virtuous. Although I've been aware of this cultural pressure for many years, I still succumb to it regularly! As a business owner it's easy to put pressure on myself to work more, work harder, work longer to get my business to succeed. It's hard for me to slow down and rest when there is still so much to do! A webinar I could be watching....
