Happy Monday Reader!
We're back for a new affirmation to power us through the week.
How has it gone the past couple weeks? Did you see new opportunities in places you didn't expect? Does success seem a bit closer?
Even if your answer was no to those questions, you're still here so I believe you're seeing some change, somewhere. And this week we're going to celebrate that progress, no matter how large or small!
Say to yourself every day this week:
"Small progress is still progress."
Just like plants, we shouldn't expect ourselves to bloom 365 days a year. Sometimes, just making it through the day without a meltdown is a success!
Our lives are busy and real, lasting change is hard. Starting a new habit is hard. You will probably fall off the wagon at least once.
And that's ok. Doing one thing better every day will add up to a huge amount of change over time.
James Clear is well known in the self improvement space for his book Atomic Habits, which is about changing your habits to get 1% better daily. I haven't read the book, because the internet has a ton of summaries of this theory. Clear himself has one here.
But this is one of the concepts I think about when changing myself seems overwhelming. Believing that making small changes is enough, right now, and that it will add up keeps me from getting discouraged and giving up quickly.
Saying affirmations 21x to yourself every day is progress. Saying an affirmation a couple times a week when you remember is also progress. Don't compare yourself to a perfect version (because you'll always fall short). Compare yourself to yourself from last week. Or last year. Celebrate how far you've come.
Let's take this week to be kinder to ourselves and celebrate success large or small by repeating 21x every day "Small progress is still progress."
As always, affirmations work best when you truly believe them. They need to resonate with you and feel achievable. So feel free to modify any I suggest, or develop entirely new ones!
Say them as long as you want. I'm sharing a new affirmation each week, but that doesn't mean you have to switch it up each week unless it feels right. You can add new ones as often as you want and have as many as you want. You can say a different affirmation every day, or at different times of the day. You choose!
I'd love to hear the impact it has! (But if you decide affirmations are not for you, click here to be removed from this weekly email.)
I hope this affirmation sets you up for a kick ass week and I'll see you next Monday for a new one to try!
Breathe deep. Drink plenty of water. You got this!
