Monday Motivation - The best system is the one that works for me.

Happy Monday Reader!

We're back for a new affirmation to power us through the week.

This is a concept I've been thinking about a lot lately. I've used it multiple times in my own life, and would love everyone I ever coach to believe this as well:

"The best system is the one that works for me."

There are so many time management systems out there. And the internet is filled with ads for people selling you their perfect system that will solve all your problems. I'm happy they found a system that works for them! But in my own life & experience, I've found most "systems" to be too rigid.

Systems are very strict on what counts as "success" and "failure," and most of us don't need any more of that pressure in our lives! Media already presents us with tons of perfect images that we can't help but compare ourselves to...and inevitably come up short.

So if you've tried a system in the past, or are even in one now, that isn't easy for you to use, that makes you feel like a failure...perhaps you aren't the problem.

Don't beat yourself up for not doing something the "right" or "best" way. When we do that to ourselves, it can make it harder to achieve the outcome we really want. Guilt or shame or self recrimination gets in the way.

So this week, remind yourself that it doesn't always matter *how* something gets done, just that it gets done.

It can be messy.

It can be less personal (like texting instead of calling).

It can be a week later than you intended.

But DONE is better than PERFECT.

Let's stop blaming ourselves for systems that aren't designed for us this week by repeating 21x every day "The best system is the one that works for me."

As always, affirmations work best when you truly believe them. They need to resonate with you and feel achievable. So feel free to modify any I suggest, or develop entirely new ones!

Say them as long as you want. I'm sharing a new affirmation each week, but that doesn't mean you have to switch it up each week unless it feels right. You can add new ones as often as you want and have as many as you want. You can say a different affirmation every day, or at different times of the day. You choose!

I'd love to hear the impact it has! (But if you decide affirmations are not for you, click here to be removed from this weekly email.)

I hope this affirmation sets you up for a kick ass week and I'll see you next Monday for a new one to try!

Breathe deep. Drink plenty of water. You got this!

Happy Monday Reader! Last week's affirmation about rest ended up being more applicable than I expected when I developed a sinus infection! There's nothing like illness or an emergency to force us to slow down and prioritize rest. Have you ever noticed that being sick is a socially acceptable reason to cancel plans? That it's a "legitimate" reason? When I have to tell someone no or cancel a plan, I usually feel the need to give a reason. It's something I've been working on as a "recovering...

Happy Labor Day Reader! Last week we looked at the water we're swimming in here in the U.S.--the water that makes constant productivity feel normal or even virtuous. Although I've been aware of this cultural pressure for many years, I still succumb to it regularly! As a business owner it's easy to put pressure on myself to work more, work harder, work longer to get my business to succeed. It's hard for me to slow down and rest when there is still so much to do!
