Happy Monday Reader! You may remember I grew up listening to a lot of country music, and there are a few songs I think of often because their lyrics continue to be relevant. One of those songs is "You've Got to Stand for Something" by Aaron Tippin, and it's what loops in my mind along with this week's affirmation: "My courage to take a stand sets me apart." This week we're reminding ourselves that we have the courage to stand for something, so that, as Tippin sings, we don't fall for anything. Here in the USA, we're gearing up for an election year. Stay with me here...this is an apolitical post! Our elections get...pretty heated. And the theatrics start really early. By the time the actual election rolls around, I'm always exhausted from all the think pieces, panic, and attempts at reading the future. The presidential election in particular can be quite divisive. Taking a side or stance can seem like putting a target on your forehead. But showing up online for causes, or people, or values you believe in can set you apart. There are thousands, maybe millions, of people out there who believe the same things you do. But the only way they'll know you have the same values is if you take a stand for them. If you plant your flag in the ground and say, "This is what I believe in. These are non-negotiable for me." You will attract your people. The people it is easy to have conversations with, who will be raving fans of your business and you. Build the confidence to take your stand by repeating 21x/day this week: "My courage to take a stand sets me apart." ❤️ P.S. This was an apolitical post unless you're a Nazi. What I wrote is still true--there are plenty of Neo-Nazis out there who will support you! But not me. People spouting hate and intolerance have no place here. Yeah, I know this isn't a new or particularly novel stance, but it's always best to leave no doubts on this front, IMO. Be kind and treat others how they want to be treated, or GTFO. As always, affirmations work best when you truly believe them. They need to resonate with you and feel achievable. So feel free to modify any I suggest, or develop entirely new ones! Say them as long as you want. I'm sharing a new affirmation each week, but that doesn't mean you have to switch it up each week unless it feels right. You can add new ones as often as you want and have as many as you want. You can say a different affirmation every day, or at different times of the day. You choose! I'd love to hear the impact it has! (But if you decide affirmations are not for you, click here to be removed from this weekly email.) I hope this affirmation sets you up for a kick ass week and I'll see you next Monday for a new one to try! Ready to make time for great things in 2024? I have 1-1 coaching spots available to teach you how to put your limited time, energy, & attention to the work that moves the needle in just 1 hour a week. Time is the single most valuable thing we have. I help busy business owners get out of overwhelm to work fewer hours in their business (without sacrificing income!) so they can get back to enjoying their business and their life again.
Happy Monday Reader! We're revisiting an oldie but a goodie this week, because I have some big news: last week I started a new part time job! Rest assured, I am not closing my coaching business. I have existing contracts I am committed to and I really enjoy the work. It's all the other stuff that started to wear me down. I woke up one morning at the end of the summer and wondered when I would look forward to starting my day & working in my business. And then I realized with a bit of shock...
Happy Monday Reader! Ever heard of the poem "Desiderata"? That's actually where our affirmation this week comes from! The full line I'm stealing from is: And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should But that felt like a bit too much of a mouthful to say 21 times daily, so I shortened it to the most important bit. "The universe is unfolding as it should." "Desiderata" became an important part of my life when I was in high school. You may have heard me...
Happy Monday Reader! Ever have those days that manage to be the worst day of your month yet also amazing at the same time? Honestly, I'm not sure I've ever experienced emotional whiplash as much as I did last week on Thursday, when I attended the Mid-Continent Public Library's Self-Care Summit. The first emotional extreme came as I was leaving my neighborhood & I sideswiped a neighbor's parked car. Being the cause of an easily preventable accident is not a positive way to start a day! It...
